Bullet Proof.

It was at that moment, when Bellamy gave the innocent, almost childlike chuckle, that Vitaly realized he'd fucked up.
His stomach fluttered.
He'd gotten too attached. He was a professional, he should have known better than even speaking to the man once.
He made a vow then to put his emotions aside. There were plenty of handsome men with gorgeous smiles and baby blue eyes, ones that he was not assigned to kill. He could go find one of them if it was that attractive. Bellamy had to die. Didn't matter how handsome or sweet or innocent he was, it was the mission. He'd never had a problem with that before.
"I'd never send you a dear John letter, soldier." He was about to assure the man that his job didn't really leave any room for a satisfying relationship either but then he remembered that this didn't matter. Bellamy couldn't know his job and they could never enter a relationship together. "Night then. I'll see you at five."
And then it hit him that even if somehow he could get out of killing the man, Bellamy would never want anything with him if he knew what he did for a living. Bellamy wanted to save people. He killed them.
Bellamy would hate him.
And he knew this shouldn't matter, shouldn't leave him with a sick feeling in the pit of his stomach.
But it did.

"I can't wait."  Bellamy wore a dreamy smile, even walking the Russian up to his apartment before departing for the night.  Unlike other men, the soldier never even attempted to kiss Vitaly.  He was a gentleman, and believed that such special events should be savored and never rushed.
But that does not mean he hadn't been tempted. Several times Bellamy thought about what it would be liked to kiss Vitaly, feel the boys soft lips against him.
He wondered if their would be sparks as their had been with Britt.
But the soldier assured himself it could wait.  The boy was still so mysterious, and Bellamy was more interested in getting to know his soul rather than feel his body. 
Ten minutes before five the next day, Bellamy was standing at the door to Vitaly's apartment.  The soldier was dressed in a light pair of khaki's and a baby blue shirt, clothes that his brother assured him made his eye color and strong jaw stand out nicely. He wore his best cologne, and behind his back Bellamy held a single sun flower.
And finally, on the man's face was a smile so radiant that it could rival the sun shine.  He was obviously excited.

Vitaly had decided not to let Bellamy affect him in such a way today and yet, the second he opened the door he found himself grinning back at the wide smile the soldier wore.
"I'm glad you look so happy to see me." He chuckled softly. It was truly nice, it was not something he was used to. Unlike Bellamy, he was not hesitant to show his physical interest in the other man, although he definitely wasn't going to push him into anything he didn't want. He was simply willing to make the first moves.
He leaned in then to press a kiss to the man's jaw, noting the manly scent of his cologne.
"You smell nice." He informed. "I like it." He hummed softly, giving a light smile as he decided that if this would be Bellamy's last few hours, he was going to make them wonderful.

"I can't help but look so happy when im this excited."  Bellamy's cheeks flushed as the boy leaned in to press a kiss against his jawline, his heart soaring at the compliant regarding his cologne. He had spent nearly fifteen minutes trying to decide which one to wear.  He'd decided on this one because it had been Britt's favorite.
"And this is for you, I hope it smells as nice as I do." The soldier teased shyly as he presented Vitaly with his sun flower. "But really, it kinda reminded me of your smile. It's just so bright and colorful, really cheers a man up." Bellamy offered his arm to the boy, just as he had every other time when escorting the Russian.

"It smells nice, not quite as nice as you, but it will do." Vitaly teased, smiling softly as he hooked his arm through the soldier's. "Did you put extra effort into looking so handsome tonight or is this just effortless to you? Because it's really not fair to the rest of us." He chuckled, shaking his head as his eyes trailed over the man's body. "I could spend hours getting ready and still not look so put together."

"I probably sound like a geek telling you this but actually I did have my brother help me get dressed for tonight.  I wanted to look my best since I was going out with someone as beautiful as yourself."  Bellamy's cheeks were burning under the happiness of having Vitaly complimenting him. Everything the Russian did seemed to have some sort of affect on him. 
"But the cologne was all my idea! And the flower. Plus the date.  Breccan has been telling me to find someone to spend time with for a while now but...I dont know...No one stuck me like you did." As he spoke, the soldier was leading them down to his jeep.  He made sure to open the passenger side door for Vitaly, his smile charming as he helped the boy in.

Vitaly listened to the man as he climbed into the jeep, smirking then as he looked over to him when he got into the driver's side.
"I can tell. The clothes look nice, but they look like something your brother would pick, not you. The flower though and the cologne, that's all you." He nodded. "And those are the best parts, don't worry." He gave a wink as he settled back in the seat. "I am glad to be the one to strike you, soldier. I don't enter relationships often either."

"Oh yeah?  I guess I can understand that. If I was as gorgeous as you and so all around graceful i'd shoot for the stars too."  Bellamy fixed the Russian with a charming grin, his the blue of his eyes shifting to an ever lighter shade, like the endless waves of the ocean. "But im proud to have gotten this far.  I mean, we're on a date...Thats enough to keep me all dreamy like this for years."  The soldier started the jeep then, backing out of the apartment complex before beginning the short drive to the museum.

"You are too charming to not already have a boyfriend, Bellamy." Vitaly shook his head as he glanced over at the man as they drove. It was true. Bellamy was perfect, the definition of a gentleman. "Are you just extremely picky or is there some flaw I haven't seen yet?" He spoke almost teasingly as he watched the soldier.

"I'm a people person, so im really not picky.  I seem to get along with just about everyone. But when I was younger, like in high school and such, I wasn't all that I am now.  I mean, personality wise im the same as ever, but I used to be a really scrawny kid.  No one would take a second glace at me, and honestly a lot of guys liked to pick on me.  I never let it get the best of me though, I fought back. I was just a runt."  Bellamy chuckled softly in memory of himself, how pitiful he had been.  "That might be my big reason for wanting to be someone's hero.  Aside from my mom being a life safer, when I was one of the little guys, I had a lot of people I looked up to.  My brother took care of me, and Dallas was always trying to help me work out.  My dad was supportive and even Breccan's dad liked to assure me that things would get better.  And he was right, they did."  The soldier's grip on the steering wheel tightened in thought of Britt, his first love and still to this day, his biggest loss.
"My big flaw is my job. I am hardly ever home and its not fair or satisfying in a relationship to be waiting around for me to come home..... I went and joined the army and came back like this, bigger and solid.  People started looking at me then but I didnt know how to react so I ignored it.  But then I went to get a tattoo and I laid eyes on a gorgeous redhead with sharp cheeks and a perfect smile.  Everything about him was perfect.  Like heaven on Earth."  Bellamy swallowed thickly, his insides feeling twisted and chilled as they often did when he spoke of his failed relationship with Britt.  The boy had been everything.
Sometimes he still was.
"It sounds pathetic but even though I was eighteen he was my first kiss.  My first boyfriend and man I loved him.  He was my future, or I thought so.  I had this entire life for us planned out in my head. I was naive back then.  I didnt understand how hard it could be.  The night before I left for service we made love and I was so sure that everything would work itself out. That he'd be waiting for me when I came home with one of those big Britt smiles and maybe wearing one of my sweaters.  He liked to hoard those....But that never happened.  I got a letter in the mail about a mouth before I was due home again.  He broke things off.  Couldnt take the distance.  I think maybe he had even slept with someone else.  I dont like to think that about him but he just...He made it look so easy."  Bellamy inhaled deeply in an attempt to keep himself composed. It was hard for him to talk about Britt's letter.  So far he hadn't even shown it to Breccan. 
"After that I decided a relationship wasnt worth the heartache. But im happy to be here with you, Vitaly.  When I look at you, I dont hurt anymore and I feel like I can try again. And I wont lie, its pretty great."

Vitaly listened to the man's story, remembered the redhead back at the man's house last night that had upset him so much. It made sense now.
"Well I hope you'll excuse my bluntness but I'm going to be honest with you, Bellamy. That boy is a bitch. And I know that won't make it any easier to let him go because you did love him, but he doesn't deserve your love. You can't blame yourself and your job. Even if that was too much for him, he should have told you in person. You deserve better." Vitaly spoke firmly, unsure why he was so irritated with this boy he'd never even met before. "But hey, I've never been in love before so what do I know?" He sighed then, realizing he couldn't possibly understand an emotional attachment to another person like that.

"Please, don't call him that."  Bellamy had immediately flinched at the Russian's calling Britt a 'bitch'.  To him that word didnt fit his first love at all, in any sort of way. 
He had never been able to stop himself from defending the boy and his honor whenever anyone dared to speak ill of him, even after receiving his letter. 
"You will understand, one day.  I believe that everyone finds love eventually, even if its not always reciprocated or if it doesnt last long.  Love is just....Its a part of life.  I dont think anyone has ever truly lived until they know that rush. Its like...Your entire world stops spinning because of it, and all the things that used to be so important dont mean anything anymore as long as you can see your loved one happy. They become everything and the love consumes you. And it makes you a better person. Love does that."  The soldier wore an almost dreamy expression as he finished his explanation, one of his hands rising to gesture at the museum as they arrived.

Vitaly had never had any desire to love someone. It was simply not an option for him, not to mention he just didn't like the company of others. Sure, he'd had sex before. Quite often, really. But it was always strangers, men he had no connection to whatsoever. Sex was not emotional for him, merely a necessity to get off, a method of relaxation at most. He couldn't even imagine what it would be like to do something like that with someone you loved. Hell, he couldn't even imagine what it was like to love someone.
He'd never loved, not even in a familial way. The closest he'd ever came was the boy he shared his first time with back in the school where they'd all been trained. But both of them were taught to not feel emotions, to not get attached. So it became merely a friendship and even that had faded away into nothing. He hadn't seen the boy in years.
He had never wanted love, but now Bellamy had him curious. What would it be like?
But still, he wasn't sure he wanted it. It just sounded painful when it didn't work out.
"I'm sorry for calling him that. But I feel like you need to know. I've heard love blinds people to the truth. I just don't want you to be blinded by your love for him. You deserve better."

"I am not blinded by love, Vitaly."  Bellamy explained softly, his blue eye alight with emotion. "I know what Britt did was wrong, but that is between me and Britt.  No one else has any right to be calling him names, and I still love him so no matter what i'll always be in his corner. That is love.  Just because I got hurt doesnt mean that all of my love for him should magically disappear.  If it was like that then it wasnt true love in the first place. The soldier fixed Vitaly with a sweet smile then, reaching over to offer the boy his hand.  "Don't let my broken heart have an effect on how you feel about love.  If you take anything from me and my feelings, take the fact that I feel like everything was worth it.  Even knowing how it ends, I'd do it all again.  I wouldn't ever want to do anything different or trade Britt for anyone else.  It was my first love and it was perfect until it wasnt.  And I dont regret it. I wont ever regret it."

"Love sounds like a whole hell of a lot of hurting." Vitaly decided finally. "But I guess I don't get it so I'll let you pine over this boy." He smirked, shaking his head as he got out of the car and took the man's hand. "But now, we're on a date so you do not think about him for a while. I'm going to distract you for the night."

"Oh no, like I said, I have no problem putting Britt out of my mind when I look at you.  Im not sure what it is exactly, but just seeing you makes me so happy that I have no room for sadness."  Bellamy squeezed the boys hand gently, moving to even hook their arms as he lead Vitaly up to the museum entrance.  "And then you start smiling at me and I feel really honored to stand under that special sunshine. I havent seen you smiling at anyone else like you smile at me."  The soldier wore a soft grin, his blue eyes gleaming with the excitement of their time together.

"That's because I don't think I've ever smiled at someone like this." Vitaly admitted, finding his grip tightening on the man's hand as they entered the museum. "But this is good, because we're going to have a nice night together, just the two of us." He nodded. "Now, you lead the way, soldier."

Bellamy led them through the different display's, never letting go of Vitaly's hand and always watching the boys face.  He had never been to the museum himself but he had always wanted to go.  But now that he was finally actually there, the soldier couldnt seem to focus on anything over than the way Vital's eyes seemed to light up at the exhibits.  Simply being able to experience his happiness was enough to keep Bellamy contented for the entire night.
"So tell me more about you.  You're so mysterious.  What was your home like?"

"I didn't realize I was so mysterious. It must be the whole foreign thing." Vitaly laughed softly. "But there's not much to tell, I guess." He wasn't sure how to tell his life story when the entirety of it centered around his job. "Well the home I grew up in also served as a school for all of us. So I lived there and graduated when I was eighteen and since then... well I haven't done much of anything but travel. I'm still trying to figure out what I want to do with my life, I suppose. I worked at a local store growing up and saved up all of my money so I could leave as soon as I was old enough. I've still got quite a bit saved, really. It's a nice life, even if it is lonely." He had made up the story about the money, but it seemed believable enough. He knew Bellamy would think it was odd that he did so much traveling even though he had no job. He had to have money from somewhere. "But like I said, I'm boring. I'd much rather hear more about you."

"There's not a whole lot more to say about me."  Bellamy was grinning softly, as though he were proud to be learning more about Vitaly and his life. He loved that the boy was letting him in. They hardly knew each other but already the soldier could tell that it was rare for Vitaly to open himself up to people. Bellamy felt honored. "My job keeps my pretty busy and we kinda already covered my childhood and what my first love turned out like. I guess the only thing left to tell you is what I want for the future." The man paused to offer Vitaly a sweet grin.  "You know im a family type of guy.  Im that one cliche that wants the whole white picket fence with three kids and maybe a dog.  I'd like to have a large church wedding, something that would make my lover really proud.  I want them to be able to brag about their happiness.  And I'd build a house, however they wanted it.  Even with all the colors and trimmings. A tire swig in the front yard...That sounds perfect." 
It how he had imagined his life with Britt.

"Wow, you really are a dream guy, huh?" Vitaly shook his head. That future wasn't what he himself had in mind but he knew that many boys would find that perfect. And a dominant man who wanted that wanted that kind of commitment seemed rather hard to find.
Vitaly never even saw himself settling down with a lover, so he wasn't sure what his future would look like. He had never bothered thinking about kids either, since he would never be able to have them even if he wanted to. There was a ceremony right before graduation that involved a sterilization process. Children would be the only thing that could ever be more important than a mission to him. That couldn't happen.
"That sounds nice though. I can see you living like that. I think you'll be a great family man one day." He smirked, nodding his head. He was being completely sincere.

"Well im glad I have your support." The soldier grinned as though he were teasing, but truly he was proud that Vitaly felt he would make it to his dream future. "But now you have to tell me, what do you see yourself doing in the future?  Do you want babies?  Or is there a career you're looking to get into? How do you see yourself getting married? Or do you even want that out of life?"  Bellamy gently squeezed the boys hand. "I want to know you."

"Shit, you get straight to the hard questions, don't you?" Vitaly was partially teasing, but he truly wasn't fond of the question. It wasn't that he didn't want to open up to Bellamy. Bellamy was the first person he ever felt like he might want to truly open up to. It was that he couldn't. He hated it, the first person he'd ever felt truly comfortable with and the relationship was doomed to end in a few hours. But maybe that was for the best. "As for a career, I've got no clue even though that's something I guess I have to figure out. As for the family thing, I've never really seen myself getting married. I've told you I'm not fond of people. I'm not against it, if the right person comes along, I just never really thought it would happen for me. I scare people off typically. Babies... I never thought about that too much either. But again, I'm not against them if I'm in a good place in my life and with the right person." He found he disliked thinking about this. He'd always just avoided thinking about babies since he knew he could never have them. But now, it almost... hurt to think he couldn't even if he desired them someday. "I keep telling you, there's not much to know, soldier." He smirked almost sadly up at the slightly taller man.
But there was more to know. He just wished he could tell him.

"Yeah, you keep saying that but something in my gut says different."  The soldier fixed Vitaly with a welcoming and understanding smile. "But what do I know?  Im a simple man who enjoys simple pleasure. But that might just be the thing. I could tell if you were as simple as me and you're not. You are intricate. And I'd like to get to know you better."  Bellamy wasn't prying though.  He knew better than to push.  Instead he would wait patiently as he always had, as he had done with Britt.
Sooner or later, Vitaly would come around.

Vitaly said nothing to that, knowing that Bellamy was too much of a gentleman to continue to pry anymore. So he changed the subject, and let them simply enjoy the rest of their night together.
He had more fun than he cared to admit. He didn't realize just how bad of an idea this was until the end of the night, when they were arriving at his apartment and he remembered what he had to do.
He took a deep breath and simply reminded himself he had to do it.
It would be over in a matter of minutes, maybe even seconds. He'd done it hundreds of times before.
He glanced over at Bellamy as they pulled up to the building, smiling softly.
"Thank you for tonight, Bellamy. I had a nice time." He leaned in, pressing a surprisingly gentle kiss to the corner of the man's mouth. "Would you like to come in?"
