The Vow

"No, im paying love." Aaron winked at her as he pulled forth his wallet. He had gotten himself a new job at a recording studio.

"I knew you'd say that. But I figured I'd try anyways." She smirked softly and let him pay for their meal before walking out to the car with him.

The drive hOme was full of laughter and love between the two of them. Aaron had never been so happy.

Ivy was happy as well, happier than she'd ever been.
She got on her knees on the seat, leaning over and wrapping her arms lightly around Aaron, kissing down his neck, leaving small marks.
This distracted the boy a bit, maybe that was why he never noticed the truck heading straight for them, speeding out of control. The truck connected with the rear end of the car.
The entire moment seemed to happen in slow motion. Anyone would have been thrown forward by the force the car hit them with. But Ivy was light and tiny, not to mention she wasn't seated right. Her weight was easily thrusted out of the seat and directly into the windshield, her head smashing through the glass, shattering it.
They say when you die you see your life flash before your eyes. Well that was what happened with Ivy.
She saw every moment she'd ever spent with Aaron flash by. Their first meeting, their first kiss, everything.
Maybe she would have savored these moments more if she knew it was the last time she'd ever see them...

Aaron was thrown forward into the steering wheel. He didnt have any flashes, but he felt everything. In slow motion he watched his brand new fiance be thrown forth through the windshield. He sat as the car came to a haltering stop. And then he simply sat, dazed and confused. His muddled mind trying to decipher what had just happened. Blood he could see all over their car. He could hear breathing but it wasnt his. And when he finally gathered up enough strength to turn his head and look over for his lover, she was not there.
"Ivory!" Aaron bellowed, raspy his voice as it cut through the car.
"Ivory!" He called once more before everything simply faded.

Everything went black for Ivory. She was breathing but only barely...
An ambulance was called by the man in the truck and they were both rushed to the hospital.

Aaron was serious but nothing such as Ivory. He managed a broken hand, a concussion, and a few severe facial lacerations. He was just fine. If only he could say the same for his fiance.

Ivory had suffered severe brain trauma. She was out in the hospital for several days. The doctors told Aaron she would wake but even they had their doubts until almost a week after the crash, Ivory began to stir in her bed.

Aaron was right beside her just as he had been the entire time she had been out since the crash. All he did was wait to see her eyes open.

A nurse came over when she saw the movement, whispering to Aaron.
"When she wakes up, she'll probably be confused, maybe a bit jumpy so don't talk too much.." She informed, watching as one of Ivy's bright blue orbs opened slowly.

Aaron nodded slowly, his heart almost jumping from his chest as Ivory opened her eyes, they eyes he had spent so many nights staring into. The eyes he wanted to see the rest of his life. The eyes that showed him his future. The eyes that watching him become a better man. The eyes of his lover, his finace, his forever.

She blinked several times, yawning and looking around, a puzzled look etched into her features.
Where were her parents? Her boyfriend, Kyle?
"You were in a car accident sweetie. You've been out for about a week now. You had some head trauma but you should be just fine. Is there anything I can get you?" The nursed asked.
"I..." She began to speak, realizing how dry her throat was before finishing her sentence. "Some water?"
"Of course, I'll be right back." She nodded and headed off.
Ivy now turned to her lover.
"Doctor, has anyone been here to visit me?" She asked, glancing at the boy that not too long ago she had proclaimed her love too but now... had no clue who he was...

Aaron almost opened his mouth to speak until his mind caught the "Doctor." He had initially been too happy tyhat she was even awake to notice.
"Wha? Ivy its me, Aaron."

She blinked once again.
"You're not my doctor?" She brought her hands up to her head, massaging her temples to stop the throbbing pains in her head. "I'm sorry... sir, I... really, I'm not sure who you are. Are my parents here?" She asked softly, hope in her voice.

"Uh...No....They havent been here..."
He hadnt even called to tell the Monroe's about their daughters accident. He didnt know what to do. He still didnt understand quite what was going on.
Maybe he was dreaming.

The Ivy that Aaron knew did not like her parents one bit. They'd kicked her out when she confessed she wanted to be a boy. She couldn't stand them...
"My boyfriend? Kyle, has he been here?" She asked, desperately, hoping for something to help her make sense of all this.
At this point, her nurse returned with a glass of water.

Aaron's eye twitched.
Kyle?
Who in the holy hell was Kyle?
But he knew...
Deep down he knew exactly who Kyle was.

Ivy took the water from the nurse before asking her the same question.
"Sweetie, I'm afraid, this is your fiance... you don't remember him do you?"
Ivy paused before shaking her head and sighing.

Aaron was silent, his face wore a look of total disbelief.
"You dont..."

She shook her head silently as the nurse spoke again.
"I thought this might happen... these things are usually only temporary. Her memory should be back within a few months, maybe more, maybe less. I can't predict that too accurately. Each case like this is different. I suggest when she's ready to go home, you try to get her back in a normal routine. Whenever she's ready to go, I think she'll be allowed to by the end of the night."

Aaron took a very deep breath, staring at his finace blankly.
"Want me to call your parents?"
He had never met them, he knew she hated them though...Or she used to

"Later..." She nodded, standing slowly and eyeing Aaron. "Do we... live together?" She asked lightly, looking down at the engagement ring on her finger.

"Uhm... Well you live in a hotel room, t you stay with me a lot. I have a small apartment between my mom and dads. " Aaron was slow with his talking, he just was unsure about everything

"Would you... bring me back some clothes to change into?" The hospital gown was irritating her already and she'd only been up for several minutes.

Aaron couldn only give a small nod as he left the room. Though he didnt cry, he felt his heart falling into his stomach, where it landed and broke apart.
